April 2017 News

April 2017
In cooperation with brianphillipsart.com

The 10 week double class schedule at the Baum Art School
in Allentown continues; featuring
9 – 12AM, figure drawing and 12:30 – 3:30PM, figure painting.
Needless to say, I'm one tired guy when I head home as both figure drawing and figure painting require continuous concentration. The object is to become proficient in these disciplines thus improving my work in figure painting. It's difficult but I enjoy the process and I spend a day with other artist that share my enthusiasm.

Below are outcomes of March and April workshops:

The PM figure painting sessions use only one color, i.e. Burnt Umber and a little Gamsol.  The process is totally different from figure drawing.  Shapes and tonal quality are what matters.
The study above uses a Zorn palette, hence the additional colors.

Again, I used a Zorn palette to do a quick study of Scarlett Johansen.

The morning figure studies are about straight, accurate lines.  Very exacting.

Thanks for stopping by; more will be added after each weeks workshop.
